I'm pretty much packed.

Two things:

1: I've just logged into the bank account for the first time in ages. We have £227.26 in profit at the moment after this and the leftover from the training day last year! Minus the £45 refund for razorlight means we'll have £180.26. We might as well split that three ways, take £60 each for expenses and close the account. Might need to get Guy and Jay on board to do that though...

2: Do I need to bring pup tents for anyone to borrow? Can't remember if we have allocated them to anyone specific.

Other kit to get rid of: mortars, det kit and metal detector are the main ones, pup tents too.
I think we just need two signatures to authorise closure and Jay had nothing to do with it anyway.

Andy was asking for a pup tent I think, but could you have room in your big tent?

I'm not packed at all! :slap:

All in favour of splitting the proceeds. In fact, Steve, if you give David £30 of my divvy, that saves me having to bring any cash to pay for the paraffin lamps.

OK guys, what time are you getting to the site? Gate won't open until 6.30pm, but we can do a few things...

I'll be in the area working, so can get there anytime after about 4pm.

I'll get there twixt 4 and 6.30 then. Can at least get the field gun and netting set up in the battery as it isn't too far from the gate.

Hi both

Good day I thought!

I wrapped it all up with Chris this morning. Weirdly someone had closed the gate again, so he was a bit pissed off that he'd had to walk all the way down to the car park area...tried blaming me for not opening it, but I explained that two people had just left about 10 minutes earlier. I guess some 'helpful' estate bod noticed it open and closed it, might have had something to do with the bales of hay that caught on fire.

Chris was also a little funny about us not paying him cash. He'd said he was keen to keep it off the books. (Sorry, I'm not going to support his money laundering...) I explained that our account required two signatories and he seemed to understand, I've just done a bank transfer instead.

Yes, I really did enjoy it. Everyone got into it and was in the right mindset. Particularly enjoyed bouncing off each others "characters" with you David and our troops enjoyed it too once they got into it. A pleasure to serve with you both one last time. It's been a great ride over the years, both as player and organiser.

Pity about Chris' attitude but, hey ho, it's not as if we're going back is it?

I'm really pleased that after all the grief and ball ache we managed to pull off an event that wasn't a dud. Quite the reverse, players worked with us rather than against, we got the pacing pretty much spot on (commandos were really over-exerted in the morning when it was warm and humid - glad it wasn't hot and sunny). Even the weather worked with us, the rain starting when we got to farmhouse and not before, and gave the 'realistic' experience of soldiery in adversity while still remaining fun. Tempers got short at the very end of the day so good call 'the players have had enough'.

Ups and down over the years for sure, but CiA organisers past and present have created something special and memorable for many people, so that is an awesome achievement. Lovely to get such kind words from players, whether written or verbal. As for rest, pffff, who cares. :D

I'm not in the least bit troubled over bringing things to an end (even though, as you know, I always think we could have done better  ) as everything has its time, and that time has passed.

Great fun over the years chaps, thank you.

Agreed. The timing feels right and it doesn't feel like I've got more passion in me to do more.

It's been a blast.
